Children’s Autism Services of Edmonton have registered psychologists on staff that can provide individual counselling to children, youth, and parents. Issues that may be addressed in counselling include, but are not limited to, coping with your child’s diagnosis, personal and parenting stress, grief and loss, anger, anxiety, depression, and interpersonal conflicts.

Children’s Autism Services of Edmonton offers counselling services with the purpose of supporting children, youth, or adults to learn ways of coping with life stressors and challenges, assist with gaining personal insight, and help with developing skills in order to live a fulfilling and meaningful life. The psychologists work collaboratively with the client to set goals and achieve them using a variety of tools and techniques. With dedication, hard work, and a strong therapeutic relationship, counselling can lead to changes in self-awareness, new ways of relating to others, and healthier emotional wellbeing and lifestyle.

Counselling sessions are typically 50 minutes and take place at Children’s Autism Services of Edmonton (at the Maier Center or South Site location). Counselling is a confidential service between the client and psychologist. Note that Children’s Autism Services of Edmonton can direct bill to Disability Services (FSCD).
