ESI 6 Week Program
February 5 @ 10:00 am - March 12 @ 10:45 am
Good communication is more than learning how to talk. Communication also includes interacting, noticing and engaging with those around them, and “hanging in” or persisting when faced with challenges or change. We call this “active engagement”. Research shows that young children with autism who have at least 25 hours of active engagement time a week do better in kindergarten than those who don’t.
Our ESI program uses evidence–based strategies that can be used in everyday activities with your child to promote social communication. It is for children 0-4 years of age with or without a diagnosis of autism. The child and caregiver participate together exploring how to make every moment count!
Moments add up to minutes and hours that are important to improve social communication. You will learn specific supports to use to improve social communication. These supports are organized into three layers, much like the layers of a cake 1st Layer: Shared Agenda, 2nd Layer: Social Reciprocity, 3rd Layer: Better Skills. In this 6 week program you will learn how to use the supports in each layer with your child and gain confidence to make everyday moments a chance to practice and learn.
