Rewatch (This is a prerecorded session that will be facilitated by a Children’s Autism Services staff member): Music-The Natural Language of Autism
March 18, 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
Adam Ockelford
This presentation will explore the impact of autism on the way young children hear and process sound, and the potential implications of this for the development music and language abilities. Through the use of video examples, it will show how music can scaffold early language and, in some cases, serve as a proxy means of communication. The power of music as a medium for developing empathy and relationships with others will be discussed.
Followed by a guided Q&A session
