Summer Camps 2021

Children’s Autism Services of Edmonton is excited to release our 2021 Summer Camp Schedule! We will be offering a flexible format like last year and are pleased to announce we are expanding our Nature Camp in a variety of different settings throughout the city. Campers will be supported with 1:1 staff and will have access to morning and afternoon outdoor activities.

Campers will spend the day practicing self-help routines, doing activities that promote engagement with nature and building trusting relationships (at a safe social distance) with staff and peers. Nature Camp campers visit natural spaces to develop a wide range of skills. The benefits of outdoor learning for children are significant.

Families can choose to register for some or all of the summer camp activities throughout the week by half day, full day, or weekly registration. If your child is registered for an outdoor camp and are not able to be outdoors due to bad weather, the camp will not be cancelled. Your camp staff will facilitate a day of camp at your home!

Funding

Families will need to contact their FSCD worker prior to camp beginning to discuss the approval for additional respite or community aide hours to be added to their existing contract. FSCD will advise you of your parent portion for camp and we will require this confirmation amount as well as approved hours prior to the start of camp. All camp programs will be supported with a 1:1 staff to child ratio.

Teens will spend the Summer exploring everything our city has to offer!  All activities are planned in collaboration with the teens and based on their interests and places they want to go. Our staff will support teen campers to learn how to access the city via public transportation. Teens can also choose to visit places and events around the city (keeping in mind Covid-19 restrictions that may be in place). Staff will work with each camper to extend their independence (i.e., purchase tickets, order a drink, ask for help).
